Deity of Finland: Kalma
"The stench of corpses" or death, Kalma is decay. She lives in Tuonela (the Finnish underworld) and her constant companion is the beast Surma who is the guard of the underworld. A bass player in the rock band Lordi used the stage name Kalma before leaving the band. Surma brings sudden and violent death, preventing escape similar to his Greek counterpart Cerberus. Surma is a dog like creature with a snake tail that can turn a person to stone with his stare. Surman suuhun means "into Surma's mouth", describing Surma's mauling of his victims. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces.
